“The whole Arundel experience is a first for many of our students. These children come from areas where the pressure to join a gang is relentless, the opportunity to be a child again is a relief. I regularly see complete transformations in my students. For some it is just the sheer boost in their confidence that is a joy to behold, and this can be regularly referenced on our return. Many colleagues and parents have reported on seeing a change in many of the students who are lucky enough to visit Arundel”. BRENT KNOLL SCHOOL, Lewisham
Who we support
Our Inner London Project focuses on the development and education of children and young people aged 7-19 from inner London schools. Our fully inclusive programme combines sport, education and wellbeing to have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of children who are facing disadvantage. Last year our inclusive programmes supported the health, education and development of 1200 disadvantaged young people.
How does the project help young people?
We promote inclusion and want to ensure that all young people have the best opportunities in life. Our Inner London Project engages young people in sports, learning and social experiences to raise their aspirations, create opportunities and help them to overcome barriers. Our unique setting enriches our range of educational programmes and has a lasting and positive effect on the young people who visit us.
The Project has many positive outcomes on the self- esteem, confidence and wellbeing of children and young people facing disadvantage. The key outcomes of the project include:
- Increased self esteem and personal confidence
- Improved access and participation in sports
- Improved motivation in learning
- Improved resilience and ability to overcome challenges
- Opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds and to make new friends
