Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation and Bohunt Education Trust Launch Outdoor Research Programme to Aid Student Success

A new research programme launched by the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation (ACCF) and Bohunt Education Trust (BET) aims to inform how cricket and the outdoors can support students struggling with disadvantage, anxiety, engagement and/or behaviour at secondary school. Funding for the project has kindly been provided by ACCF and by a grant from Ned’s Fund, which exists to support vocational activities for young people who find themselves, lacking purpose in life.

Whilst studies have suggested that sport and outdoor education such as bushcraft have benefits to young people, the ambitious programme will look in detail at the types of intervention that work best for different profiles of student. The programme aims to allow targeted interventions to be developed so that students have greater chance to thrive at secondary school and beyond.  Read more

JULY 2020

Arundel Castle Cricket takes great pleasure in launching ‘A Celebration of Cricket for All at Arundel’.

The 2020 cricket season has obviously been significantly impacted by the ongoing pandemic. However, thanks to the enormous generosity of one of our supporters, the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation and the Friends of Arundel Castle Cricket Club have been working together to make Arundel’s beautiful ground available to a wide range of organisations for the remainder of the summer. Our aim is to bring joy back to the lives of those most in need after the ravages of Covid-19.

We are excited to have linked up with a broad range of community groups and cricketing charities for this celebration, including the England and Wales Cricket Board, Chance to Shine, the MCC Foundation, the Ruth Strauss Foundation, the Sussex Cricket Foundation and the Southern Vipers.

Director of Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation, Tim Shutt, said: “Arundel will host a series of 12 events between 25 Julyand 20 September, each of which will have a different purpose and beneficiary group. Together, we will strive to make the summer of 2020 memorable for the right reasons, using cricket to bring families, friends and communities back together again.”

We will release the full series of events shortly. In the meantime, we are delighted to announce that we will start, on Saturday 25 July, by going #RedforRuth in support of the Ruth Strauss Foundation, which works tirelessly to support families facing the death of a parent from cancer. With the focus on ‘family’, we will be inviting families to join us for fun and games on our beautiful outfield. More details to follow soon.

Our ‘Celebration of Cricket’ series will be in addition to the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation’s core activities and the scheduled fixtures of the Friends of Arundel Castle Cricket Club. For all events, we will ensure there is full compliance with the latest government guidelines.
